Experienced fitters are invited to take fixed teaching shifts.
Additional instructors are needed to train incoming staff without removing the same senior fitters from every maintenance round.
Teaching offers must identify the procedure, group size and paid preparation time. A fitter accepting a teaching shift will not simultaneously be rostered for a service call. Demonstration materials will be supplied through stores.
The department is extending its earlier handover teaching arrangements to regular instruction. People reducing maintenance hours may enquire without accepting a full instructor appointment. The office must still fill the maintenance work released by the teaching arrangement; one appointment cannot be counted as two staffed posts.
