The intake begins with supervised routing, directory checks and unresolved-call records. Applicants should state working languages and any switchboard or counter experience. Technical faults remain with maintenance staff.

The present roster leaves too few operators when handovers coincide with busy calling periods. Until new staff are trained, routine transfers may wait behind reserved service calls. Operators will record the receiving office so that a waiting caller need not start the enquiry again.
