Departing fitters may complete a paid teaching assignment before handover.

A teaching assignment must identify the assembly, receiving team and bench time for demonstration. A written description is insufficient where the receiving worker has not handled the component. Preparation time must appear on the assignment sheet.

Participation is voluntary and paid. It does not postpone an agreed departure unless the worker accepts a revised term. The office remains responsible for filling the vacant post; a former fitter's willingness to answer questions cannot be entered on the permanent duty roster.
